This week is going to be very interesting, I work at the only street level Starbucks in Detroit and this week is superbowl week. Hmmm..... For starters we have extended our hours 5 hours per day and have called in twice the staff....interesting.

You scored as William Wallace. The great Scottish warrior William Wallace led his people against their English oppressors in a campaign that won independence for Scotland and immortalized him in the hearts of his countrymen. With his warrior's heart, tactician's mind, and poet's soul, Wallace was a brilliant leader. He just wanted to live a simple life on his farm, but he gave it up to help his country in its time of need.

We pray that you'll have the strength to stick it out over the long haul--not the grim strength of gritting your teeth but the glory-strength God gives. It is strength that endures the unendurable and spills over into joy, thanking the Father who makes us strong enough to take part in everything bright and beautiful that he has for us. -Colossians 1:11-12

...on the power of the small thoughts

Today Pastor Chilly preached a message called "Mind over Matter" dealing with the subject of loving God with all of our MIND! (Mark 12:30) By the way everyone can download this message on podcast from itunes. Everyone can and SHOULD!  The name of the podcast is called realcast. But anyway, I thought that I would share what anyone who knows me already knows, but i think alot!  There is times when i will disappear from conversations going on around me and drift off into some theological or philisophical conversation with my self. Yes I know this may be hard to believe but it is true! haha!  But today as I was reading something by G.K. Chesterton I came across an article about thoughtless thoughts and remarks. He compared thoughtless thoughts or thoughtless remarks to flies. After all they are not very big and usually not even a comment or thought that we believe, they can be insignificant and even subconscious. I often hear people say, "My mind was just wandering, sorry." Whether it is a statement we make or a passing thought it must be dealt with To win the war of the mind.   We are called to fix our thoughts on what is TRUE, HONORABLE, RIGHT, PURE, LOVELY, ADMIRABLE, EXCELLENT, and WORTHY OF PRAISE. (Phil 4:6-8) These thoughts or comments can be lies that we entertain or repeat, or even just response to feelings inside of us. But the bible says that we will give an account for every idle word. As Pastor Chilly preached I was again reminded that the fight for the mind is not over and that I must continually be fighting off thoughtlessness and the wandering of my mind. So without further adeu, Chesterton paints a picture of the power of flippant thoughts or remarks.

...That is the problem that I find practically pestering us on every side to-day, and that is what I mean by comparing the buzz of dull flippancy to the screaming of gnats or flies. It is all concerned with the same paradox, with what may be called the omnipresence of the insignificant. A fly is a small thing, but flies can be a very big thing. In some tropical countries, I am told, they can appear like great clouds on the remote horizon or vast thunderstorms filling the whole sky. The plague of locusts which afflicts many lands is something much more destructive than the passage of a pack of wolves or the ruin wrought by a stampede of wild bulls or wild elephants. So the seemingly insignificant individual irritation produced by these insignificant individual perversities may be, in its cumulative effect, more corrupting to a whole culture than the great heresies that have been hardened and hammered into a certain intellectual solidity. The spirit of anarchy does not work only by monsters. Even the sages and visionaries of the East have seen a spiritual significance in the fact that even almost invisible insects can be a plague or carry a pestilence; and the ancient name of Beelzebub has the meaning of the Lord of the Flies. -G.K. Chesterton

23but I see in my members another law waging war against the law of my mind and making me captive to the law of sin that dwells in my members. 24Wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death? 25Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, I myself serve the law of God with my mind, but with my flesh I serve the law of sin.
(Romans 7:23-25)
